With Staffordshire University’s Centre of Archaeology

Ever wanted to be an archaeologist? Dreamed of digging up treasure? Fascinated by uncovering the past? During the Hoard Festival, we’ll be exploring the gardens surrounding the New Vic, looking for artefacts from the past.

Every Tuesday and Wednesday from 23 June to 22 July members of the archaeology team will guide volunteers through an archaeological project. Learn about what it takes to plan a project, survey a site using equipment that scans beneath the ground, carry out an archaeological excavation, and work with the finds. See the whole process through from start to finish or just drop in for a session and lend a hand!
